Welcome to Zinlight Academy, a learning platform operated by Zinlight Ventures (“we,” “our,” or “us”).

We help primary learners practice and master core subjects through online tests and progress insights for parents, teachers and schools.

We respect your privacy and are committed to safeguarding the personal data of children, parents, teachers, and schools who use our services.

This policy explains:

By using academy.zinlight.com, you agree to this policy and our Terms of Service.

We collect only what’s necessary to deliver learning and support:

Personal Data

  • Parent/Guardian: name, email, phone (optional), school or organization
  • Student: first name (or alias), age band, class/year level
  • Teacher/School: contact details, class setup information

Usage Data

  • Device type, browser, IP (for diagnostics & security)
  • Pages visited, time spent, and learning activities

Learning Activity

  • Test attempts, answers, progress, scores, reports

Payments

  • If you subscribe, payment is handled securely by Paystack. We do not store card details.

Cookies & Tracking

  • Essential cookies for login and sessions
  • Optional analytics (with consent where required by law)

We process your information to:

  • Provide the service (Contract): quizzes, grading, reports, and access management.
  • Improve & secure (Legitimate interests): reliability, performance, anti-fraud, troubleshooting, product analytics (with consent where required).
  • Communicate (Contract/Consent): account updates, support replies, service notices.
  • Comply with law (Legal obligation): tax/financial records, safety requirements.

We may share limited data with trusted providers (e.g., cloud hosting, email delivery, secure payments).

We never sell or rent personal data.

All third parties are bound by strict confidentiality and security obligations.

Your data may be stored or processed outside your country.
We use providers with legal safeguards (e.g., GDPR Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect your rights.

  • Active accounts: data retained while subscription/partnership is active
  • Inactive accounts: retained for a reasonable period (typically 12–24 months) for records/reactivation, then deleted
  • Parents/schools may request earlier deletion anytime

Depending on your location (e.g., NDPR, GDPR/UK GDPR, POPIA, CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to

  • Access, correct, or update your data
  • Request deletion (“right to be forgotten”)
  • Restrict or object to processing/opt-out
  • Export your data
  • Withdraw consent where applicable

For student data, rights are typically exercised by the parent/guardian or school.

Adult-supervised use: student accounts are created/managed by a parent, teacher, or school.

  • No direct marketing to children: communications go to the responsible adult or school.
  • Age-appropriate content: curriculum-aligned, appropriate for primary learners.
  • Parental/school control: adults can access, correct, export or request deletion of a child’s data.
  • Report concerns: academy@zinlight.com (priority handling).
  • Consent: where required by law (e.g., COPPA, GDPR/UK GDPR, NDPR), verifiable parental/school consent is obtained.
